International Union of Operating Engineers Local 513

Local 513 represents union heavy equipment operators working in the eastern half of Missouri. Local 513 represents approximately 4,000 workers in our jurisdiction (59 counties in the eastern half of Missouri from the Iowa border to the Arkansas border) and has a storied tradition for over 115 years of aiding workers in providing them with a quality career, benefits, and good working conditions.

Local 513 has current collective bargaining agreements in place with construction contractors throughout its jurisdiction. In these uniform construction agreements with these contractors, operators receive the following on the first day on the job?

WAGES

under the master agreements

Union construction Operators at Local 513 working for S.I.T.E. and A.G.C. contractors make between $32.14 to $41.11 per hour. All overtime is paid for all hours worked outside the scheduled shift each day. Wages are GUARANTEED by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiated for you by the union. Regardless if your work is privately or publicly financed, your wage and benefits will stay the same.

Our union members receive a fair wage that is negotiated by Local 513 and voted on for approval by the members. We receive a wage rate increase annually. Why leave the decision of your yearly wage increase up to a company that is looking for every measurable way to keep more money in their pocket and less in yours? PENSIONS

under the master agreements

These master agreements provide Pension contributions paid 100% by the employer at $12.50 per hour worked. Overtime hours for pension contributions are paid at time and one-half rate or double time rate.

Annuity contributions paid 100% by the employer at $5.00 per hour worked. Overtime hours for annuity contributions are paid at time and one-half rate or double time rate. Regardless if your work is privately or publicly financed, your benefits will stay the same.

Basic Pension and Annuity information for Local 513

under master agreements

These figures are the anticipated benefit payouts if starting your career as an Operating Engineer in 2022.

The current scale when working under a majority of agreements with Local 513 set out pension earning for years of service with current contribution paid 100% by the employer.

5 years of service$925.00 per month for life, with option of adding spouse for life.
10 years of service$1,850 per month for life, with option of adding spouse for life.
15 years of service$2,775 per month for life, with option of adding spouse for life.
20 years of service$3,700 per month for life, with option of adding spouse for life.
25 years of service$4,625 per month for life, with option of adding spouse for life.
30 years of service$5,550 per month for life, with option of adding spouse for life.
35 years of service$6,475 per month for life, with option of adding spouse for life.​​

These same majority of contracts have Annuity earning for years of service with current contribution paid 100% by the employer annuity earning for years of service with current contribution paid 100% by the employer.

HEALTH INSURANCE

under the master agreements

The majority of our members work under collective bargaining agreements that require Health Insurance contribution for your entire family contributed at 100% by the employer at $9.46 per hour worked. Under this agreement overtime hours for health insurance contributions are paid at time and one-half or double-time rate. Regardless if your work is privately or publicly financed, your benefits will stay the same. Under the Local 513 welfare fund, qualifying members also have negotiated to provide Insurance benefits for the member and spouse in retirement.

TRAINING

under the master agreements

Local 513’s Training Center and our International Training center is open to all members who work for employers who have negotiated to be included in the training funds. We strive to obtain agreements wherein contributions are paid 100% by the employer at $1.40 per hour worked. As a member of Local 513 working for a contributing employer, you can attend training at either Local 513’s training site or the International Training Facility in Crosby, Texas. Either training facility sprawls over 265 acres and has everything you need to expand your skillset as an Operating Engineer, with all-inclusive facilities including free housing. Each site has a completely free dining facility and recreation center. Trips to the International Training facility are zero out-of-pocket cost for you, including travel to and from so long as the collective bargaining agreement provides for employer contributions.

WORK OPPORTUNITIES

Local 513 area covers 59 counties in the eastern half of Missouri from the Iowa border to the Arkansas border. Local 513 has agreements with more than 300 contractors to work within those 59 counties. As a member of Local 513, you have the ability to work for union signatory employers throughout the entire US if you so wish.

Local 513 is eager to match qualified operators with union-signatory employers that have agreed to a binding contract that provides the above pay and benefits. Local 513 is equally eager to help operators bargain with their current non-union-signatory employer to reach an agreement that strives to meet these same goals.
